Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the first full day of his three-day visit to Canada by signing a deal to buy more than three thousand tonnes of Saskatchewan uranium over the next five years to fuel his country's power reactors. The contract with Cameco Corporation is one of a number of agreements signed today. Prime Minister Stephen Harper acknowledged that trade has not grown as quickly as he'd like between Canada and India, but said the Cameco deal is a positive step. (Modi praised Harper for improving relations between the two countries, saying they had drifted for a while, but are now back on track.-)
