Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger says he's concerned about reports that kids in government care are languishing in jail because there is nowhere else to put them. The province's children's advocate has told The Canadian Press that she receives calls from judges who want to release youths from police custody, but can't because of the lack of foster care spots. Selinger says his family services department is looking into the matter. (The governing NDP are being accused of violating the charter rights of children by allowing them to stay in custody longer than necessary.)
