Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered a Sikh temple in Vancouver yesterday waving and smiling as protesters shouted from a block away. The leader of Hindu's nationalist party and Prime Minister Harper received a neon yellow scarf and a kirpan at the Ross Street Temple. Modi's entire speech was in Hindi, and Harper called him a great admirer and friend of Canada. (Next to the temple, Modi and Harper visited a museum dedicated to nearly 400 Indians who arrived in Vancouver in 1914 aboard the Komagata Maru but were denied entry by the Canadian government.)
