2015-04-22 | Manitoba Byelection The Pas

Preview Clip

Manitoba's governing New Democrats have won a byelection, but have seen their support drop for a third straight time. This week's byelection in The Pas an NDP stronghold saw the New Democrats take 57 per cent of the vote. That's down sharply from the 73 per cent they got in the 2011 provincial election. Tory Leader Brian Pallister says even though his candidate lost, he feels confident about next year's election. (NDP support also dropped in two Tory-won byelections last year in Morris and Arthur-Virden. All three byelections followed the government's decision in 2013 to increase the provincial sales tax.)
