Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard is defending a decision to drop a tax credit that benefited a T-V production company owned by the fiancee of Parti Quebecois leadership candidate Pierre Karl Peladeau. The premier told Quebec City reporters the decision to eliminate the refundable tax credit granted to Julie Snyder is aimed at creating a level playing field for all players in the independent television production industry. (Snyder's company is closely tied to the TVA French network, which is a major client and is owned by Peladeau's Quebecor. Snyder suggests the Liberals are acting out of spite because she's engaged to the perceived front-runner in the P-Q leadership race.)
