Thanh (tohn) Campbell says he's grateful to Canada for welcoming him and dozens of other young refugees 40 years ago this month. The Hamilton resident arrived here as a baby, one of thousands of children airlifted from a chaotic Vietnam as Communists forces closed in on Saigon. He says it's important to know that Canada played an integral role for many young survivors. (Campbell has dedicated his life to connecting fellow refugees and sharing their stories. Campbell says he's found 47 of 57 orphans on his flight. Many stayed in Ontario, but others have dispersed -- from Alberta to Gibraltar to Australia.)
