NDP leader Rachel Notley has pulled off what seemed to be the impossible when the Alberta election was called. She's led the NDP to a convincing majority victory, knocking the Progressive Conservatives out of office after nearly 44 years in power. Notley told jubilant supporters in Edmonton the election brings new ideas, new people and a fresh start for the province. (Cheering supporters chanted "Rachel! Rachel! Rachel!" as they celebrated the party's first ever election victory. The Wildrose party took second place and will form the official Opposition, while the battered P-Cs had to settle for third. Premier Jim Prentice has announced his resignation as Tory leader and as MLA for Calgary Foothills.)
