Alberta is urging campers and people who drive off-highway vehicles to be extra-careful this Victoria Day long weekend not to spark wildfires. The wildfire risk in much of the backcountry already ranges from moderate to high due to dry conditions combined with rising temperatures and winds. Janelle Lane, an Alberta Environment spokeswoman, says the risk could get worse if the weather forecasts holds. (She says ATV drivers should check their vehicles for buildups of grass and other debris that could catch fire.)
