Three inmates are hoping to put on trial the way British Columbia's jails hand out discipline. The West Coast Prison Justice Society is helping the inmates launch a B-C Supreme Court lawsuit that alleges the current disciplinary system in provincial jails is unconstitutional. Spokeswoman Jennifer Metcalfe says gaining respect for the law is an important part of rehabilitation. (The notice of civil claims alleges staff presiding over hearings presume guilt and rely on a standard of proof that is less onerous than what's required in criminal court.)
