2015-05-16 | Oil Spill Modelling

Preview Clip

An analysis of the consequences of a major oil spill in the waters surrounding Vancouver has found up to 90 per cent of the crude could reach shores within 24 hours. The complex modelling was conducted based on allegations that Kinder Morgan has failed to look at possible ramifications of a spill. Ali Hounsell, the spokeswoman for the firm's proposed Trans Mountain expansion, says the company is open to reviewing the new study, but has in fact already submitted detailed analysis for an environmental review. (The City of Vancouver, the City of Burnaby and Tsleil-Waututh (slay-wah-tooth) Nation will submit their new spill model to the National Energy Board at the end of the month.)
