Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says it's time for the US to fix its country of origin labelling rules. The World Trade Organization ruled Monday that the American label requirements, known as COOL, violate America's trade obligations. Ritz says Canada will likely be able to impose retaliatory tariffs against the United States by late summer or early fall, if Washington doesn't repeal its country of origin labelling rules. (If the law is repealed, Ritz said the Canadian government would not consider going after the United States for damages on behalf of beef and pork producers.)
