Justice Minister Peter MacKay says groups and organizations from across Canada are expressing great interest in the government's proposed 20-million-dollar prostitution exit strategy. He says the government will soon announce who will receive funds to participate in the program that aims to help sex workers leave the industry, but he didn't provide the date. (The government's Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act makes it an offence to buy sexual services or communicate for that purpose, but sex workers say it puts them in harm's way by preventing them from speaking with and screening clients.)
