The Manitoba government is defending its Steady Growth, Good Jobs slogan. The phrase is used in advertisements and roadside construction signs across the province and touts the government's economic agenda. Kevin Chief, the minister responsible for jobs and the economy, says it's a good description of the province's economy. (But the Opposition Tories say the economy is sluggish and the ads aren't true. The government spent money on opinion polls and focus groups to test the slogan in 2013. That data is being kept secret, however, under the province's freedom of information law.)
