The mayor of Cache Creek, B-C says 23 homes remain under evacuation order following Saturday's storm that overwhelmed the village. Twenty-six millimetres of rain fell on the community in less than an hour, sending water flowing down the streets like rivers, sweeping away yards and swamping homes and businesses. Mayor John Ranta says geotechnical engineers have visited and examined local hills and slopes. (Ranta says homes damaged beyond repair will remain under evacuation order and will likely be condemned. He says those owners will be able to claim disaster financial assistance from the B-C government.)
