The report by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission investigating Canadas residential school system includes 94 recommendations. Perry Bellegarde, Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, says it's time for leaders at all levels to bring about transformative change. He says the apology made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper back in 2008 was a monumental day. (The TRC report calls on the federal government to launch a national inquiry into the number of missing and murdered aboriginal women. It also goes so far as to recommend additional CBC funding, a statutory holiday to honour survivors and an apology from the Pope on behalf of the Roman Catholic Church.)
