Police suspect a man who was the focus of a lengthy hate-crimes investigation is responsible for killing an Edmonton policeman and wounding a second officer. Constable Daniel Woodall was shot last night while executing an arrest warrant at a home in a residential neighbourhood. The second officer, Sergeant Jason Harley, was shot in the lower back but was wearing body armour and was treated and released from hospital. Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson (EYE'-veh-son) choked up when discussing Woodall's death -- saying he commends the courage of the officer's widow, Claire. (Constable Woodall was just 35 and leaves two young sons.)
