An energy industry spokesman says the way ahead for the oilsands should be more research on reducing environmental impacts -- not in blocking new development. Greg Stringham of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says a letter released yesterday by 100 top Canadian and American scientists that calls for a moratorium is wrong. (Economists, biologists, climatologists and political scientists have all signed the letter. Its drafters say it took more than a year to write to ensure the reasons it provides for the moratorium all are scientifically sound.)
