The RCMP have arrested and charged a Somali man in the August 2008 hostage-taking of Canadian freelance journalist Amanda Lindhout and fellow journalist Nigel Bren. Both were released in November 2009. RCMP Assistant Commissioner James Malizia (mah-LIT'-zee-ah) says the victims played a key role in the very complex investigation that led up to the arrest of Ali Omar Ader yesterday in Ottawa. (The RCMP says Ader had been in Canada for a few days but is not revealing how he arrived in Canada.)
