Alberta has introduced legislation to hike taxes on large corporations and high-income earners. Wildrose finance critic Derek Fildebrandt says the government is wrong to ask taxpayers for more money before checking to see if more can be cut from government spending. (As of October 1st, Albertans making more than 125-thousand-dollars a year will see their tax rate rise from 10 per cent to 12 or 15 per cent on a sliding scale. The corporate tax rate is going up from 10 per cent to 12 per cent on July 1st.)
