An independent review released today says Nova Scotia's mental health court in Halifax has an average rate of repeat offenders that's roughly the same as a comparison group using the traditional system. But report author Mary Ann Campbell of the University of New Brunswick says people who complete the mental health court program tend to stay out of the system for a longer period of time. (The report recommends the province continue funding the mental health court, which was set up in 2009 for people with mental health disorders who end up in the criminal justice system.)
