A woman accused of hiding the remains of six infants in a Winnipeg storage locker is going to trial on fraud charges. Andrea Giesbrecht, 41, is accused of defrauding Employment and Income Assistance, a payday loan company and an unnamed individual. Matt Gould, her lawyer, says talks with the Crown broke down, leaving his client with little choice but to go to trial. (Giesbrecht is also facing six charges of concealing a body in relation to the remains found last year. She has been out on bail since the spring.)
