A killer whale caught on some rocks by low tide off B-C's Central coast had dozens of rescuers come to her aid. A researcher was watching the whale's pod hunt seals yesterday when he noticed the female struggling on a tiny island and called for help. Cam Hill, a Hartley Bay band councillor, says he watched the rescue operation for several hours and was pleased to see her struggle off the rocks. (Hermann Meuter, a whale researcher in the area, says the orca was at first distressed when they started pouring water over her, but relaxed when she appeared to realize they weren't going to harm her.)
