A US congressional committee on human rights heard an impassioned plea about human rights abuses in China from a Canadian beauty pageant contestant. Actress Anastasia Lin, who plays an imprisoned practitioner of the outlawed Falun Gong sect in an upcoming Canadian movie "The Bleeding Edge" is Canada's nominee for the Miss World pageant. Lin says shortly after she was selected to represent Canada, Chinese authorities put pressure on her father to persuade her to give up her advocacy. (Lin moved to Canada when she was 13 and lives in Toronto.)
