The Manitoba Liberal Party is promising lower liquor prices and possible privatization. Liberal Leader Rana Bokhari (boh-KARR'-ee) says her party is launching public consultations on how to improve the liquor system in the province. She says they will be looking at everything from Alberta's privatized approach to fully public systems in other provinces. (Bokhari says even if Manitoba's liquor system remain public, there would be big changes under a Liberal government. She says the Liberals would restrict liquor commission advertising to education purposes, and the Crown corporation would be ordered to find savings and cut prices.)
