The B-C government is appealing a scathing court ruling that found social workers falsely accused a mother of being mentally ill and seized her children in 2009. B-C Supreme Court Justice Paul Walker found last month that the kids' father was able to molest his toddler during unsupervised visits. Children and youth representative Mary Ellen Turpel Lafond says the ministry must take seriously the power to knock on a family's door and take their kids away. (B-C Children's minister Stephanie Cadieux says the appeal will not affect a separate review of the case being conducted by former civil servant Bob Plecas.)
