ecs. Firefighters in B-C are ready to battle the Stickpin wildfire burning just south of the border in Washington State. Fire information officer Fanny Bernard says that's what residents of Grand Forks and Christina Lake were told at special meetings last night in those southern B-C communities closest to the US blaze. (The Stickpin fire covers 140-square kilometres of northeastern Washington and is burning just a few kilometres south of the Grand Forks and Christina Lake. Bernard says the hundreds of people at last night's meetings were informed about the process if an evacuation alert is declared for B-C communities, and were also warned that expected strong winds have the potential to push the fire further north.)
