Smoke from fires burning in Washington state drifted north over the weekend, blanketing several southern B-C communities in a thick haze. The smoke has prompted air-quality alerts and reduced visibility, but fire information officer Kevin Skrepnek says it has a silver lining, too. (B-C crews are now in Washington state to help fight a 192-square-kilometre fire burning about five kilometres south of the border.)
