Soowahlie (soo-WAHL'-ee) First Nation Chief Brenda Wallace says she regrets that her Fraser Valley community briefly became a toll road during the height of British Columbia's wicked weather storm. Wallace says motorists trying to escape the storm were charged a twenty-dollar toll to cut through her Chilliwack-area reserve. (Wallace says the First Nation has dropped plans for future tolls in favour of an emergency strategy that directs traffic to an alternate route that bypasses her reserve's main drag.)
