Preview Clip

A woman whose grandson was seized by Manitoba social workers Monday says Canada is repeating one of its darkest chapters in history. The 65-year-old, whose voice has been altered to protect her identity, says Child and Family Services took her three-day-old grandson from his mother's arms at the hospital. She says it was just like when she was taken at age nine from her grandparents in northern Manitoba and placed in a residential school. (Manitoba social workers seize an average of one newborn a day -- the vast majority are aboriginal. Family Services Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross says children are seized as a last resort when their safety is at risk.)
