Logging companies are angry over the Alberta government's decision to create new parks that will shut them out of more than one thousand square kilometres of wilderness in the province's southwest. Brock Mulligan of the Alberta Forest Productions Association says his members feel the New Democrats should have stuck with parks about half the size that were developed after consultations by the previous Conservative government. (Mulligan says one company in the area is only five years in to a 20-year forest lease. The Castle wilderness region is home to about 200 threatened species and has long been a conservation goal of environmental groups.)
