The NDP wants the Harper government to adopt a fast-track plan to bring more than 46-thousand government-sponsored refugees to Canada by 2019. Foreign Affairs critic Paul Dewar says that includes bringing 10-thousand refugees here by the end of this year. In an Ottawa news conference, Dewar enumerated the tide of refugees trying to get to safety, including the ones related to a B-C family who died in Turkey. (The NDP is also proposing the government appoint a Syrian refugee co-ordinator as soon as possible.)
