Prime Minister Stephen Harper has criticized Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau's promise to scrap the controversial big-ticket purchase of the F-35 fighter jet. Trudeau says he'll sink the proceeds instead into the Royal Canadian Navy and shipyards in Halifax and Vancouver. Harper says the jets are needed to replace at CF18s used in the fight against Islamic State militants. (NDP Leader Tom Mulcair calls the purchase a "completely failed process" that showed a need for a new bidding process but he did not rule out purchasing the F-35.)
