Two men found guilty of terrorism charges after being accused of plotting to derail a passenger train have been sentenced to life in prison. Raed Jaser (rah-EED' JAH'-ser) and Chiheb Esseghaier (shuh-HEB' EZ'-ah-GUY'-ur) were found guilty in March. Russell Silverstein, the court-appointed lawyer who assisted the self represented Esseghaier, says the way in which the judge dealt with the evidence of Esseghaier's mental state in the case would be "an issue" if the matter ever went to an appeal. (Two psychiatrists told the court that the deeply religious Esseghaier was mentally ill.)
