Mounties have laid terrorism charges against a Calgary man they believe has gone abroad to fight with the Islamic State. Twenty-two year-old Farah Mohamed Shirdon is known for burning his Canadian passport in an Islamic State propaganda video. RCMP believe he left Canada last year to fight with the terrorist group in Syria. Calgary Imam Syed Soharwardy (SY'-ed soh-har-WOR'-dee) says he's pleased police have finally laid charges. (RCMP say there were reports Shirdon had been killed in Syria, but that wasn't the case. They allege he had various roles with the Islamic State, including combat, recruiting and fundraising.)
