Premier Kathleen Wynne says it is not acceptable for the safety of students to be used as a bargaining chip by school staff. Some schools in Halton region unlocked their doors because support staff won't answer the buzzer that alerts them to a visitor. Wynne says the education minister is trying to find out what's at the heart of the dispute over the school doors. (The Halton board took provincial funding to install door locks and buzzer systems in its schools, and Education Minister Liz Sandals says she doesn't know why answering the buzzer has become tied up in a labour protest.)
