Ontario opposition New Democrat Cheri DiNovo will introduce a private member's bill this week so birth registration services in Ontario recognize same-sex parents and other non-traditional families. DiNovo says it's time to get rid of the red tape and give queer and transgendered parents the recognition they deserve without forcing them to go to court. (Private member's bills rarely become law, but Premier Kathleen Wynne says the Liberal government will "certainly" consider DiNovo's legislation.)
