The CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals is asking US securities regulators to investigate Citron Research, which has cast questions over the business practices of the Quebec-based company. Michael Pearson told analysts on a conference call this morning the company is the victim of false allegations by outsiders who want to manipulate the market for their own profit. (Left compared Valeant to Enron, the American energy firm that collapsed after widespread deception and fraud at the highest levels of management and alleged that Valeant set up a network of phantom pharmacies to fool auditors.)
