The Vancouver Canucks scored three times in the first period on the way to beating the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 last night. Montreal had won nine straight to start the season, while Vancouver had yet to win on home ice. Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows was happy to see his team come out strong ahead of a two-game road trip. (The Canadiens were one victory away from joining the 1993-94 Toronto Maple Leafs and the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres as the only teams to start a season with 10 straight wins.)
