The pace of economic growth in Canada has slowed, but there is still some progress. StatsCan says the economy grew by 0.1 per cent in August, following increases of 0.4 per cent in June and 0.3 per cent in July. Scotiabank economist Derek Holt says the August figure was expected. (The agency says growth was mainly a result of gains in retail trade, manufacturing, mining, and oil and gas extraction.)
