A former US ambassador to Canada has some harsh words for the Obama administration when it comes to its handling of the Keystone X-L pipeline. The cross-border pipeline was rejected last week on the grounds it wouldn't help the US economy and would hinder efforts to cut its greenhouse gas emissions. David Wilkins was ambassador during the presidency of George W. Bush. He says he's embarrassed by how the Keystone process was handled. (Keystone X-L would have connected to an existing pipeline system, offering a more direct route for 830-thousand barrels a day of mostly oilsands crude to get to the Gulf Coast market.)
