Ecological groups will argue in Federal Court this week that a decision by Environment Canada to approve the production of genetically modified Atlantic salmon eggs should be overturned. Kaitlyn Mitchell, a lawyer with Ecojustice, says it's important the government scrutinize the product carefully. (The groups claim that the federal department did not follow its own rules and conduct a full risk assessment before clearing a US company to produce the eggs in Prince Edward Island. The case is being heard Tuesday in Ottawa.)
