A Royal B-C Museum researcher has discovered a new species of giant horntail wood-wasp that is 53-million years old. Bruce Archibald says people often ask him why they should care about ancient bugs. (The seven-centimetre-long wasps are similar to their modern descendants but existed in a much warmer winter climate alongside tropical creatures including cockroaches that are now only found in Fiji.)
