Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard says the current debate over security checks on Syrian refugees coming to Canada is exposing the same fault lines that exist in other societies, and that Canada is not unique. Couillard, speaking with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, told the Canada2020 policy conference that security can't be used as a mask for racism. (Wynne says the compressed time frame for taking in the refugees presents logistical issues about where they will be housed, but she says the country has managed such influxes before and can do so again.)
