Alberta Jobs Minister Lori Sigurdson says her heart goes out to relatives of a 10-year-old boy killed in a farm accident on the weekend. Family say Joseph Stahl (STALL) had finished cleaning hog barns on the Lougheed Hutterite colony and was driving a forklift on a gravel road when it toppled into a ditch and pinned him underneath. Sigurdson says there can be no workplace investigation into the boy's death because the proposed law hasn't yet passed. (The NDP government introduced legislation last week that would bring labour and employment standards, occupational health and safety rules and workers' compensation to the agriculture sector. Details on how the law might protect children are to be determined following public consultations over the next few weeks.)
