Burns Lake, B-C-area politician Bill Miller says improving transportation services along Highway 16, the so-called Highway of Tears, is a huge safety concern for First Nations people living in central and northern British Columbia. Miller says improving transportation along the highway does not solve every issue, but it eases safety concerns for vulnerable people. (First Nations leaders and provincial and municipal officials are in Smithers later this week to discuss transportation options for the notorious Prince George to Prince Rupert corridor where 18 women have been murdered or disappeared since the 1970s.)
