Preview Clip

Proposed changes to provincial legislation will clear the way for the use of Segways and other personal transportation vehicles on Nova Scotia's roads. Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan says the province will be the first to include the vehicles in its Motor Vehicle Act, legalizing their use on roads, sidewalks and bike lanes. MacLellan says the decision follows a pilot program announced in May 2014 which allowed the two-wheeled vehicles to be used by companies in Halifax, Truro and Chester. (MacLellan says drivers will be required to wear helmets and there would also be a minimum age of 16 for a driver to operate a personal transporter on their own.)
