Preview Clip

The Manitoba government is hoping for federal help in ensuring the survival of a northern railway and port. OmniTrax Canada is selling the Hudson Bay rail line and Port of Churchill after a below-average year. Manitoba Transportation Minister Steve Ashton says he'd like to see the port less dependent on grain shipments and diversify into potash and other goods. (Ashton discussed the issue today with his federal counterpart, Marc Garneau. The rail line is the only land link to Churchill and three other communities, and the port is a major employer in the region.)
