Manitoba politicians are leaving the legislature for the holiday break with a provincial election on the horizon. Premier Greg Selinger says he is committed to the April 19th election date set in law and has no plans to go to the polls sooner. Selinger also says there will be, at the very least, a fiscal update in the new year and possibly a full budget. (A three-week fall sitting has wrapped up with several bills yet to be passed into law, including one that would make aboriginal studies part of the school curriculum and another that would give the children's advocate more powers.)
