A former refugee who lives in Regina says history has shown that many displaced persons who come to Canada become successful and very few need social assistance. Getachew Woldeyesus (get-TAH'-chew wall-day-UH'-sis) now works with the Regina Open Door Society. He says people shouldn't discount the knowledge and skills refugees may bring with them. (Canada is preparing to bring in at least 10-thousand Syrian refugees by the end of the year.)
