The Vancouver coast guard station is re-opening, three years after it was shuttered in a federal government cost cutting measure. Fisheries Minister Hunter Tootoo made the announcement outside the Kitsilano station today. He says many people have expressed concerns about the cut to marine search and rescue since the closure. (Re-opening the base was an election promise made by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.)
